There was no easing slowly into the wintry weather Monday when it came to travel.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office handled 14 crashes between 7am and 9am, 12 of those between 7am and 8am.
Four of the crashes occurred on Illinois Route 33 east of Effingham, eight on US Route 45 between Central School and Percival Springs Airport, one near Lake Sara Road and one on Illinois Route 37 at the curve south of Watson.
A few of the crashes were vehicle rollovers, but no one was transported for treatment of injuries in any of them.
The PSAP fielded multiple calls for eight additional crashes on the interstates, mostly I-57 south of Effingham, which were handled by Illinois State Police.
