The newly released 2025 Illinois Report Card highlights continued student growth and achievement across Teutopolis CUSD 50, reaffirming the district’s long-standing reputation for excellence
in learning and community partnership.

This year’s report introduces new statewide proficiency benchmarks for English Language Arts, Math, and Science – updated to give families and educators a clearer, more accurate picture of student learning and readiness for college and career. Because of these new benchmarks, 2025 proficiency percentages cannot be directly compared to prior years. However, student growth percentiles remain measured on the same scale, offering a reliable view of year-to-year progress.

“We are proud of our proficiency levels and the growth our students have shown again this year,” said Superintendent Matthew Sturgeon. “This progress is a testament to the hard work of our students and the daily commitment of our teachers, families, and community partners. Their dedication keeps Teutopolis strong.”

Each Illinois school also receives an annual summative designation—a state measure of overall performance across multiple indicators.

● Exemplary schools rank among the top 10% statewide and show success across all student groups.

● Commendable schools perform well overall and show no underperforming student groups. Teutopolis CUSD 50 schools received the following designations for 2025:

● Teutopolis High School — Exemplary

● Teutopolis Junior High School — Commendable

● Teutopolis Grade School — Commendable

Additional highlights from the district’s Report Card include above-average rates in teacher retention, student attendance, and high school graduation, alongside small class sizes and per-pupil expenditures well below the state average.

Looking ahead, the district’s Leadership Team is focusing on curriculum review, resource alignment, and professional development to sustain the district’s mission and momentum. “We are deeply rooted in this community’s tradition of excellence,” said Sturgeon. “As we plan for the future, we want every student to feel known, supported, and prepared for what comes next.”
