One person was injured when two vehicles collided north of Effingham just before 4pm Tuesday.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a car driven by a 16-year-old boy from Effingham was westbound on 1800th Avenue, stopped at the intersection with US Route 45. A car driven by 33-year-old Cody Simpson of Charleston was southbound at the same intersection.
The 16-year-old failed to yield, continued through the intersection, and was struck in the passenger side by Simpson. The 16-year-old and three juvenile passengers were not injured and refused medical treatment. Simpson was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
The 16-year-old was cited for failure to yield. Simpson was cited for driving while his license is suspended, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and operating uninsured motor vehicle.
