Xenia resident Scott Tolliver was sentenced Monday to five years in prison. Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens said Tolliver was sentenced for possessing firearms by a felon.

Givens said Tolliver knowingly possessed firearms, being a handgun, rifle and shotgun, after having a prior conviction of aggravated domestic battery. He will have a one-year period of mandatory supervised release to follow his prison term.

The investigation was conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. State’s Attorney Phillip Givens said: “The Clay County Sheriff’s Office worked swiftly and efficiently once receiving reports of Tolliver possessing firearms. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office continued pursuit to find the firearms and the defendant to keep the community safe. I am grateful to work alongside such a dedicated group of law enforcement officers here in Clay County.”
