Altamont city council members Monday agreed to raise electric rates. The rates will be increasing for the first time in 17 years.
Every customer…residential and commercial…will see rates rise $2 a month each year through 2029. The action needs finalized by the Council at their next meeting.
The Council considered bids regarding demolition of the former Dairy Bar on Main Street, but some bidders withdrew their bids while other couldn’t get their bids finalized. It was decided to simply re-bid the demolition. Bids will be due on November 6th.
Council members also approved amending the water capital infrastructure fee. The fee will increase 30 cents a month, effective on January bills. The Council also raised the insurance min/max premium for another year for $126,886, and also the purchase of the old First National Bank building for $1. Council members will now decide how to get rid of the building.
The Council decided to approve a parking lot surface variance at Feed the Crave at 508 East Cumberland Road, and extend a variance regarding use of Connex containers until April 26th.
