The filing period for candidates of established political parties for county offices and precinct committeepersons starts on Monday, October 27 at 8am and goes through Monday, November 3 at 5pm at the office of the Effingham County Clerk.
Candidates for statewide executive offices, congressional offices, Democratic Party State Central Committeemen and Committeewomen, legislative offices, multi-county regional superintendent of schools and judicial offices, or for any office to be elected by more than one county are required to file their nominating petitions with the State Board of Elections.
Candidates must file the following nomination papers: a)statement of candidacy; b)loyalty oath (optional); c)receipt for filing a statement of economic interest; and d)nominating petition sheets, containing a sufficient number of original signatures.
