The Unit 40 school board Monday acted on a number of personnel moves related to the 21st Century Program, which provides after-school instruction.
Jordan Andruch and Jessica Reeder were hired as co-directors; Aaron Adams, Abbey Armstrong, Brooke Bayles, Tracie Beard, Ryan Ervin, Julie Flack, Jenni Fritcher, Sara Mette and Jalana Robison were approved as site supervisors; Ashley Delks, Alex Estes and Jill Feldhake were hired as lead instructors; Kayla Blair, Paige Gillmore, April Hardiek, Raylen Hardiek, Seth Hinson, Stacey Huston, Barb Jamison, Leslie Koester, Kali Ort, Celeste Stombaugh and Amy Wernsing were hired as program facilitators; Gina Hewing and Leia Klein were approved as facilitator assistants; Courtney Bushue, Regina King and Lori West were hired for food services; and Cindy Curry and Nathan Delks were hired as bus drivers.
A transfer was approved for Chelsea Wakefield as a three-hour cook at the high school. Resignations were accepted from Kylie West as a custodian and from Ana Macias as a paraprofessional. The retirement was accepted from Esther Thompson as a custodian.
The Board discussed the tentative tax levy for the coming fiscal year. Assistant Superintendent Kelsey Baker thought the district’s EAV could increase by 10% so is considering a 14% hike. A hearing could be set for the November board meeting.
Superintendent Andy Johnson discussed an anti-vaping campaign statement that would involve not only the district but the entire Apollo Conference. The statement follows a presentation last month against vaping by EHS Principal Kurt Roberts. Johnson also reported that enrollment is up 22 students from the previous month.
The Board also acknowledged that Kathleen Henderson and Jennifer Hess are the co-directors of the Unit 40 Foundation Board.
There was also discussion as to whether Unit 40 should act as the fiscal/administrative agent for the CORE Academy. The matter will be discussed further at the November meeting.
