 County Board Starts Work on New Budget

The Effingham County Board Monday agreed to disburse $18,000 in opioid funding to the Health Department Family Resource Center. They also approved a proclamation in support of Local Chamber of Commerce Day, and approved an advisory referendum to voters regarding federal scholarship tax credit. Also approved was an agreement on the state’s attorney’s appellate prosecutor.

Board members approved a bridge aid petition for West Township, and approved an intergovernmental agreement between the County and the Village of Teutopolis regarding maintenance of Green Street. The Board approved the use of the historic courtyard for the City of Effingham’s Light Up the Lawn, and approved a $13,100 disbursement in contingency funds for emergency roof repairs on the historic courtyard.

Board members approved a stipend of $1,000 monthly for the premium of county employees enrolled in county group health coverage programs along with stipend of $1,700 to health savings accounts of enrolled employees, and approved a Christmas luncheon along with a $25 gift certificate for fulltime and part-time County employees, excluding County board members. The Board approved a proposed fiscal year budget for the county for layover, and approved a 12-month ambulance provider contract extension, along with approving a door opener repair on an elevator in the County Government Center.
