At approximately 11:30 am on Sunday, the Effingham City Police Department received a call of an unresponsive individual at the Petro Stopping Center in Effingham, Illinois. Officers responded and located the individual near the gas pumps. The male was transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital by Rural Med EMS where he was pronounced deceased at 11:55 am by the emergency room physician. He was identified as Rodney Mangum, age 53 of Harrisville, Mississippi.
The Coroner’s office was notified and responded to the emergency room. Next of kin were contacted in Mississippi and were advised of his death. Medical information from his family and primary physician were requested by the Coroner’s office.
The investigation continues by the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
