Illinois youth deer hunters set a new record for the season, harvesting a preliminary total of 4,714 from October 11-13.

That total compares to 4,097 deer taken during the 2024 season. Top harvest county was Randolph with 259, almost 100 more deer than second-place Pike County.

Youth hunters with an unfilled, valid youth deer permit may still hunt with the permit during the upcoming firearm deer seasons November 21-23 and December 4-7.

There were 118 deer taken in Effingham County this year, 122 in Fayette County, 97 in Jasper County, 92 in Clay County, 44 in Coles County, 71 in Cumberland County, and 100 in Shelby County.
