Mark Ritter of WRF Engineers was on hand at Tuesday’s Altamont school board meeting to answer remaining questions about the district’s capital projects. The Board approved capital projects not to exceed $4.25 million, which include drainage work and resurfacing of the high school parking lot, additional classroom space at the grade school, and demolition and rebuilding of the track shed at the grade school.
The Board heard a presentation on the new Science Club, which has 47 members.
Information was also shared on curriculum priorities, which include high school biology, weight training and phonics. Possible consideration is being given adding astronomy and earth science at the high school.
The Altamont board accepted the resignation of Deven Gragert as grace school paraprofessional, approved Janice Linder as substitute bus driver, and approved Bryce Suckow as 5th grade basketball coach. They also approved leave for an employee; approved a FFA overnight trip to the national convention in Indianapolis; and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Mound Township for snow removal.
