The Cross Foundation hosted its 24th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on October 6 at the Effingham Event Center, honoring more than 150 volunteers who serve as greeters and members of the grounds crew at The Cross campus.
The evening recognized the ongoing dedication and service of those who help maintain and welcome visitors to the 198-foot monument, which attracts more than 15,000 guests each year. Foundation leaders also shared updates on new additions coming to the site, including the planned installation of two new Life of Jesus statues in 2025.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year Award to Mike Schabbing for his exceptional service and commitment as a member of the Cross Grounds Crew.
