The Effingham Regional Growth Alliance itself continues to grow, in ways designed to help the Effingham area.

Alliance Chairman Courtney Yockey received the Effingham County Board’s Chairman’s Commendation Award for his leadership on the Childcare Research Committee. Yockey’s leadership led to securing $323,000 of funding for childcare and resulted in 110 new licensed childcare slots.

Yockey and the Alliance assisted with growth in Montrose and Teutopolis through the MAPPING process for Montrose and the Comprehensive Plan Update for Teutopolis, as well as expansion of the City-County Enterprise Zone, and community events including a STEAM Camp at the Wright Family Center, a Touch-a-Truck event at Adventure Camp, and an after-school program through the Effingham Park District.

Yockey helped with Workforce and Education programs, and is working with the City of Effingham on expanding opportunities for residential development. He’s also assisting with business expansion and retention including assisting Square Southtown on an economic impact analysis.

The Alliance is working with a local business for expansion and the potential of building a new facility.

The Alliance is expanding its influence at a statewide level, as Yockey is president of the Illinois Enterprise Zone. This involvement helps to know what programs and funding resources are available to our communities.
