The area communities and counties working together to bid electric supply for residents have decided to pause the aggregation program and to revert back to Ameren as the electrical supplier for the communities.
Effingham City Administrator Steve Miller said, “We were unable to secure an offer with a satisfactory combination of price and duration due to the current volatility in the market.”
The Council approved a final change order totaling $74,760.38 on a resurfacing project that involves additional work on the cemetery roads and unplanned work on Temple Avenue and Mini Hills Drive.
There was more delay in finalizing a petition to vacate a portion of Glenwood Street, but the Council did get to meet new City Police Officer Grace McDowell. The Council did approve a final plat of River Ridge Subdivision, a 23-lot residential development on the west side of Effingham.
The Council discussed abating bonds to finance capital improvement projects, since the projects generate enough revenue to cover the bond payments. Also discussed was declaring 509 West Franklin and 505 South Third Street as dangerous and unsafe so the City can take steps to demolish the homes.
