An ATV and a semi collided in Mason Township Monday afternoon.
Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported a 15-year-old male from Watson was traveling alongside 750th Street at 5:26pm. 67-year-old Ronnie Tonn of Mason was driving the semi. According to Tonn, the juvenile was looking down, adjusting the carburetor on the four-wheeler, not looking at the road as he was driving. The juvenile entered the roadway and struck the front, driver’s-side tire on Tonn’s semi.
Deputies report that due to the nature and severity of the accident, the juvenile was airlifted from the scene by Air Evac Lifeteam. The youth was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
