(SOME OF THE CROWD ON HAND MONDAY NIGHT IN TEUTOPOLIS FOR THE COMMEMORATIVE SERVICE TWO YEARS AFTER THE ANHYDROUS AMMMONIA CRASH)
Members of the law enforcement and emergency services community along with many area citizens gathered in Teutopolis Monday night to commemorate the second anniversary of the anhydrous ammonia release following a crash.
Five people died in the incident and many people were injured. Half the Teutopolis community had to be evacuated for 24 hours after the incident.
The gathering included ringing the bells at St. Francis Catholic Church and the playing of “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes.
The Teutopolis Fire Protection District was joined by fire companies from throughout the area, as well as sheriff’s deputies, local police and state police troopers.
