 Noon Rotarians Hear from Veteran, Meet Their Exchange Student

Effingham Noon Rotarians met their exchange student at their meeting on September 17.

Lenny Grosel is from Germany. He is staying with Rotarian Beverly Soltwedel and her husband Delbert. Lenny will be staying in Unit 40 for the school year. Noon Rotarians Amanda McKay and Nate Mason are assisting with Lenny’s visit.

The weekly guest speaker was Donnie Dorn of Dieterich. Dorn about being drafted in 1967 then being sent to Vietnam in 1968. He said that sharing about his experiences is one thing that has helped him. Dorn has a memorial in his front yard with all of those in his unit who were honored. He received a Bronze Star for his service when he was just 21 year old.

Noon Rotarian Norbert Soltwedel served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

The Rotary weekly student guest was Jackson Schultz, the son of Michael and Marisa Schultz, and a senior at St. Anthony High School.
