The Effingham Public Library Board discussed the tax levy for the coming fiscal year at this month’s meeting.
The Board is waiting on the equalized assessed valuation from the county before finalizing the levy. It’s expected that the levy can be addressed in October.
The changes by the City regarding sales taxes won’t impact the library, which gets 90% to 95% of income from the levy.
The Board also discussed training on materials challenges. Library Director Amanda McKay said challenges are pretty few and far between at the Effingham library, but guidelines in case such issues arise need to be in place, just in case.
Board members approved an updated personnel policy manual and celebrated that the date of the meeting, September 15th, was the 10th anniversary of the opening of the current library building.
