Teutopolis school board members passed their fiscal year budget at this week’s meeting.
Superintendent Matt Sturgeon said projections show deficit spending in both the Education Fund and the Operations and Maintenance Fund. Sturgeon said the deficit in O&M is largely a matter of summer projects rolling across the fiscal year and the District’s continued pursuit to maintain and update facilities.
One summer project is not quite completed. The trophy case displays for the cafeteria-gymnasium breezeway have been delayed by the manufacturer until late October, but the rest of the high school cafeteria project is in the punchlist stage with finalizing within the next week.
Enrollment numbers were reviewed, with district enrollment up 17 students and a PK-12 total of 1,173, up nearly 130 students from a decade ago.
In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board accepted letters of resignation from Claudia Watson as 7th grade volleyball coach and from Maria Tegeler as fresh-soph girls basketball coach but who will remain a volunteer.
The Board also hired Diane Greuel as high school girls cross country coach, Keith Dennis as high school Scholar Bowl coach; and a student worker as a D.O. Monitor at the grade school.
