An Effingham woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison on drug charges.
36-year-old Shawna N. Mitchell pleaded guilty in Fayette County Circuit Court to unlawful possession with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine. Mitchell was arrested on the charges in May of 2024.
Counts of methamphetamine trafficking and possession of meth were dismissed as part of the negotiated plea.
Mitchell was given credit for 178 days served while awaiting disposition of her case.
