Wright’s Furniture & Flooring has announced the return of Devin Wright to the family business, marking a significant milestone in the company’s enduring legacy within the Dieterich community. Devin, son of John Wright, is the third member of the fifth generation to officially join the team, alongside his sister Taylor Wright and cousin Alex Wright.
Devin’s journey with Wright’s began when he was a teenager, sparking a lifelong dream to one day work at the family business full-time.
“I started out sweeping floors in the warehouse when I was fourteen,” Wright said. “I worked here through high school and even during college. Once I got my business degree, I decided to branch out and do my own thing, just to see what’s out there, but I always knew I’d come back. Being here again feels like riding a bike. I’m re-learning many things I knew in the past, but with new technology and operations in place, and it’s going great. I hope I can take what I’ve learned over the years to help take Wright’s to the next level.”
Before returning, Devin spent nine years working in flooring merchandising and manufacturing, where he worked closely with vendors and gained a deep understanding of supply chains, product development, and retail impact. One of the clients he worked with was Wright’s Furniture, so it feels like he never left.
“It’s a full-circle moment for me,” said Wright. “For nearly a decade, I sold products to Wright’s from the manufacturing side. Now, I’m back on the sales floor, serving the same customers I’ve grown up around. I’ve always been close with my family, and now that I have a child of my own, it feels like the right time to come home. This is where I belong, and I’m here to stay.”
John Wright, president of Wright’s Furniture & Flooring, said it’s great to have his son back in the family business, especially with the experience he brings to the table. “We’re thrilled to welcome Devin back into the business,” said Wright. “He’s grown so much both in his personal and professional life, and brings valuable insight and industry knowledge that will strengthen our operations, especially in our flooring division. His return helps ensure the continued success of our family legacy, and we’re excited to see how he’ll help us evolve and enhance the customer experience.”
Wright’s Furniture & Flooring is a fifth-generation family-owned business that is celebrating its 136th anniversary this year. Wright’s Furniture & Flooring features a large selection of quality living room, bedroom, dining room, home office, home accents, entertainment, commercial and custom furniture as well as a wide selection of flooring. The business also offers interior design services in its Dieterich, Robinson and Taylorville locations and window treatments through its Wright at Home store in Effingham.
