The Effingham County Economic Development Committee Tuesday heard that more than 23 thousand dollars is available for loans to new or expanding businesses in the county.
Meanwhile, committee chairman Dave Campbell reported that another grant has still not been released.
The County was granted 99 thousand dollars several years ago. Those funds have been loaned to various businesses and repaid by those businesses, then loaned out to other entities.
The committee decided to seek another grant so more funds could be loaned to more expanding or startup businesses. Campbell said he is getting assurances that the County will receive the funds, but they have not been released at the Federal level.
Any new or startup business can check with Effingham County about applying for the new or existing funds.
