Effingham Water Authority trustees were contacted at this month’s meeting about when and whether Summit Township will be blacktopping Water Authority roads.

John Jackson asked trustees whether Bob Willenborg had been in contact with the Water Authority regarding blacktopping, and Gary Morgan requested that the Board continue pursuing Summit Township maintaining Water Authority roads.

Also, Tom Ryan of the Parks and Rec Committee reported that they met with the Kiwanis Club regarding interest in sponsoring one of the projects in the next phase of the beach project. They have also met with Farnsworth Group regarding the preliminary improvement and increase of the size of the beach area. Ryan said the partitions for the bath house have been received and are being put into place.

Attorney Kyle Boose also told Ryan that he had communication from the Illinois Department of Labor and that they had no findings and have closed the case. Boose also stated the paperwork for the Sportsman’s Club option to renew was ready for review.

Alan Tucker addressed the Board regarding upgrades to the marina and restaurant location at Midwest Marina. There is concern regarding the narrowness of the cove when discussing the relocation of the boat ramp. A special meeting will be scheduled to look at the property and to get specific measurements.
