An ATV struck a car in Mound Township early Sunday morning, injuring one of the drivers.
The crash happened just after 1am at the intersection of US Route 40 and 200th Street, about a mile west of Altamont. The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reported the ATV driven by 30-year-old Colton Nuxoll of Beecher City was traveling north on 200th Street approaching Route 40, while the car driven by 60-year-old Edwina Zarate of Effingham was headed east on Route 40. The ATV entered the intersection and struck Zarate’s car.
Nuxoll was injured and was taken by Rural Med EMS to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Nuxoll was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle, operating a non-highway vehicle on a roadway, and failure to yield.
