A local man died due to injuries he received in an incident early Saturday morning just off Interstates 57/70 at Effingham.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes reported a truck driver exited the interstate southbound at Keller Drive at 12:43am Saturday. The trucker found an individual lying in the driving lane and a motorcycle resting on the shoulder of the roadway.

Illinois State Police responded and the individual, identified as 43-year-old Justin Kresin of Effingham, was transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Kresin died from his injuries at 4:59am.

Rhodes said it appears Kresin lost control of the motorcycle while exiting the interstate at Keller Drive, but said the incident is still under investigation.
