The Effingham County Sheriff’s Department reported a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 45 at 500th Avenue in Union Township. The accident happened just after 11:30 on Tuesday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that a vehicle driven by Robert H. Willison of Flora was travelling south on Highway 45, approaching the intersection with 500th Avenue. Another vehicle, driven by Yvonne M. Tannahill of Cisne was northbound on Highway 45, also approaching the same intersection. The Tannahill vehicle failed to yield the right of way, and began to turn left onto 500th Avenue, causing both vehicles to collide head-on.
Both Williamson and Tannahill were transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham with non-incapacitating injuries.
