A Shelby County man has been sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to a terrorism charge for making false threats.
24-year-old Joseph Jenkins admitted to making the threats online. Jenkins was arrested at his home in Lakewood in April. The FBI had alerted the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office about receiving a tip about a TikTok threat of shooting students and teachers at a school.
Jenkins had prior arrests for making similar social media threats to shoot Shelby County deputies.
Jenkins was sentenced to six years in prison. He will serve one year of mandatory supervised release once out of prison.
