Effingham Public Library board members passed a building and maintenance levy ordinance for Fiscal Year 2027.

The .02% levy generates $75,000 for the library.

Library Director Amanda McKay said they are waiting for the glass walls to be reinstalled as part of the Children’s Room. McKay thinks a final inspection will likely occur in another month, but said those who use the children’s room are excited about the additional space generated by the project.

As to Summer Read for this year, McKay said over 1,400 people have signed up. Participation has been good. They have numbers on participation later this month.
