The Effingham Noon Rotary Club marked the final meeting of the 2024-2025 club year and the final meeting of Andrew Koester as club president on June 25.

Koester is affiliated with Taylor Law Offices in Effingham and Flora and also served as Clay County State’s Attorney.

During his remarks to the club, Koester noted that since the 1970s, participation in pretty much anything has gone down. He said social media has taken the place of joining. Koester countered that it’s better for people to join; personally, for your community, and to build lasting relationships.

Koester also gave himself grades on his performance during the year. He gave good marks for club meetings and the programs presented, but encouraged stronger efforts at recruiting others to the club.

Mike Kirchhoff is Noon Club Incoming President.

The club also recognized two members who hit Paul Harris Fellow milestones. Scott Mosher was honored with his Paul Harris +6 award, and Chris Koester received his initial Paul Harris Fellow award. The awards are presented each time a member contributes $1,000 towards the Rotary Foundation.
