An Effingham man has been ordered held for now on counts of Involuntary Sexual Servitude of a Minor and related charges reportedly involving a juvenile.

41-year-old Juan Alberto Cruz Ceba was taken into custody on Monday after a local church pastor brought the girl to the police station. The girl told authorities she was the victim of domestic battery, sexual assaults, and was subjected to involuntary confinement at her residence.

In court Wednesday, Judge Christopher Matoush found probable cause to hold Cruz Ceba over for trial, and that he attempted to contact the minor after she was removed from the alleged abuse, along with a prior deportation and ICE hold.

Cruz Ceba is now charged with involuntary sexual servitude of a minor, trafficking in persons, criminal sexual assault, aggravated domestic battery, interfering with the reporting of domestic battery, and domestic battery. He is next due in court on July 16.
