A “No Kings” event will take place in Effingham on Saturday.
Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said the protest will take place on the Effingham County Courthouse square. The event is to run from 11am to 1pm.
Similar events are scheduled in all 50 states, with organizers estimating there will be 2,000 of them.
McFarland said the organizers contacted him about their plans to hold the protest.
The Trump administration is the chief target of the protesters, who say they have a goal of “peaceful and patriotic opposition.”
