Authorities are working to determine the identity of a man found dead in a semi at a local truck stop.
Effingham City Police were called to Flying J Truck Stop at 10am Wednesday. Officers spoke with the driver of the semi who said a man was sleeping in the trailer of the rig. The driver went to wake up the man, but the man did not respond. The Effingham County Coroner’s Office was called. The man was pronounced dead at 10:26am.
The man is believed to be 60 to 65 years old and possibly from Honduras. The Coroner’s Office and an interpreter have been attempting to contact the family of the man, but have not yet been successful.
