Effingham City Plan Commission members Tuesday recommended a rezoning of property to the City Council.
The property is located at 2316 and 2320 North 4th Street and is owned by Brad Voyles. The land is currently zoned planned office and limited industrial district. An existing office building and a building that has been used for manufacture of pre-fabricated walls and wall panels are located on the property. The manufacturing operation is what led Voyles in 2018 to have the property rezoned from general commercial. Now, the manufacturing operation has found a new home so the thought is switching back to general commercial zoning might provide more options as to how to use the property.
A petition for a tower didn’t have enough signatures, so the matter was pushed back to the July meeting.
There was also brief discussion of revisions and changes to the Zoning Ordinance as far as the 2050 comprehensive plan process.
