A man was struck by a semi along I-70 near Greenville early Monday morning.
The incident occurred at 2:55am when the man being transported by Carle Ambulance reportedly became combative during transport. The ambulance pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway and stopped. The patient got out of the ambulance, ran into a lane of westbound traffic, and was struck by a semi.
The patient was transported to the Greenville hospital and was later confirmed dead.
