Effingham park board members are beginning work on a five to 10 year plan for district improvements.
The Board discussed this month about patching and sealing the pickleball courts at Hendelmeyer Park, pursuing Phase 2 of the skate park at Hendelmeyer, and a complete resurfacing of the tennis courts at Community Park.
Park District Director Jeff Althoff is also working with an architect on what needs done as far as swim activities at Evergreen Hollow Park. Kluthe Pool is open when weather permits, although Althoff acknowledges that the pool is “on its last legs”. There has been discussion of a new pool or other amenities like a splash park.
The park board is also operating with two new members. Manny Wei and Jeff Ungrund are serving in place of Angie Kronewitter and Mike Cunningham, having taken those spots since the May meeting.
