Local resident Jeramy Hoffman has been sentenced to prison time for defrauding a financial institution.
The 49-year-old Hoffman was arrested by Effingham City Police in January of 2023. Hoffman was also originally arrested on a charge of forgery, but that count was dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea to the other charge.
Hoffman has been sentenced to five years in prison. The five-year term will run concurrent with other charges Hoffman faced as well as a federal charge.
