Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland has been awarded Employee of the Quarter as part of the City’s Employee Recognition Program.
The Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes an employee who demonstrated either distinguished or extraordinary service during the fiscal quarter or other accomplishments that typically go unnoticed but are worthy of recognition.
With over two decades in law enforcement, Chief McFarland has advanced through the ranks of the Effingham Police Department, from Patrol Officer to his current role as Chief. Along the way, he’s led major criminal investigations, earned recognition from the U.S. Secret Service, and served on numerous advisory boards. The letter of nomination for McFarland reads, “His career reflects not only deep experience, but a continued drive to serve with integrity, compassion and professionalism.”
As Chief, McFarland has implemented numerous initiatives that enhance officer wellness and modern policing practices, including the development of a Peer Support Group, a fentanyl response plan, PTSD training for dispatchers and a co-responder model for narcotics-related calls. His commitment to innovation, training and community partnerships sets a high standard for leadership in public safety.
