Progress continues to be made on the expansion of the Children’s Room at Effingham Public Library.

Library Director Amanda McKay said things are going well. McKay hopes work will be finished within a month.

Board members reviewed the results of the latest community survey. McKay said general satisfaction was seen with the library. One thing many patrons were not aware of was the scanning services. Most every service got high reviews, but some patrons would like to see quiet zones in the library, and more opportunities to download items was seen as a plus.

One thing discussed was the approaching 10-year anniversary of the library in its current location. McKay said they might tie the anniversary in with the completion of the children’s room expansion.

Board members approved a new slate of library officers, including co-presidents Matt Greider and Lisa Koerner, Secretary Charlene Topel, and Treasurer Shelby Dasenbrock. The Board also approved a FOIA policy and a security camera policy. The library will be installing outdoor cameras next month.
