North Clay school board members renewed their insurance policy with the Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust.

The premium will increase by about $28,000, due primarily to the addition of new buildings due to the district’s construction project.

The Board also approved a tentative amended budget with final action expected at the June meeting. They also approved an athletic co-op agreement with the Clay City district.

Several personnel moves were approved, including hiring Kim Adair as 8th grade girls basketball coach, hiring Sam Erwin as 7th grade boys basketball coach, hiring Chloe Lewis as high school girls assistant basketball coach and as hiring volleyball volunteer assistant coach, hiring Allison Czyzewski as junior high school assistant girls basketball coach, hiring Chris Smith as full-time custodian; accepted the resignation of Roy Taylor as high school boys assistant coach but retained him as a volunteer coach, accepted the resignation of Maddie Craig as junior high school volleyball head coach; accepted the resignation of Jill Johnson as volunteer cheer coach; agreed to post for the position of 200 custodial hours; post for a fulltime paraprofessional position; increase the 2025-2026 bus driver hourly pay to a range of $22 to $34/hour, based upon experience and performance; provide the administration permission to hire non-certified staff as needed; and set the salary of Superintendent Keith Price for the coming school year.

The Board heard from Price that summer projects are being coordinated with Poettker Construction to include additional items as part of the Phase 2 construction project. The district is waiting on more specific budget numbers from Poettker Construction.
