Brownstown school board members voted to sell general obligation school bonds to finance construction of a building addition. The bonds will not exceed $7 million. The project will add classrooms and include a breezeway to keep students out of bad weather.
The Board voted to renew child nutrition, Illinois free lunch and breakfast, and food distribution programs. Also approved was a contract with Stacy Gibson for speech services; replacement of six HVAC units at the elementary building as part of the school maintenance grant; purchase of Chromebooks; purchase of new wall padding in the high school gym; and a collective bargaining agreement with the Brownstown Education Support Personnel Association.
The Brownstown board approved registration fees for the coming school year–$95 for elementary students, $120 for junior high and high school students, $50 for drivers ed students, $15 for ag mechanics students, and $7 for Ag I and Ag II students.
In personnel moves, the Brownstown board accepted resignations from Brittany Coomer as 6th grade teacher, Lily Bales as high school Special Ed teacher, Leilani Deem as district Art teacher, and McKennzie Clark as junior/senior high school secretary. Stacey Summers and Ryan Northrop were hired as summer janitorial help.
The Board set a public hearing on the Fiscal 2025 amended budger on Monday, June 16.
