Strong storms visited the Effingham area Friday afternoon and evening, but there were no reports of any injuries.
The first system came through about 3:30pm and another storm came through Effingham about 5:30pm. There were tornado warnings issued in each system. The storms involved heavy rainfall, strong winds, hail, downed trees and power lines. Authorities reported a storm containing a tornado was spotted aloft over the Effingham area shortly before 6pm.
Local resident Ron Will reported half-inch to three-quarter-inch sized hail during the second storm. He also sent along this photo of a rainbow.
