Abraham Lincoln: Lawyer/Politician Presentation
The Effingham County Museum, together with the Effingham Public Library, are sponsoring a program about Abraham Lincoln.
The program will be held at the Effingham County Museum on Thursday, April 16, at 7:00 PM. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the program will be held on the second floor of the museum, which is located at 110 East Jefferson Street in Effingham.
The speaker will be John Lupton and his program is about “Abraham Lincoln: Lawyer/Politician”.
John Lupton is the Executive Director of the Illinois Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission. Prior to the Supreme Court, he worked 18 years with the Lincoln Legal Papers to make documents related to his law practice available to the public. Lupton has written or edited numerous articles and books on Lincoln’s law practice and Illinois legal history. Lupton is also a recognized Lincoln handwriting expert, having appeared on the PBS program History Detectives and was an expert witness in a lawsuit over an allegedly forged Lincoln signature.
