5k Color Run – Surviving the Color: Newton
Team of Mercy – Newton is a non-profit organization which aids those that have lost a loved one to suicide. Our mission is to aid, through advocacy and/or emotional support, those who have been left behind. We also aim to increase suicide awareness by focusing on prevention and education in Newton and the surrounding areas. Nationally, approximately 135 people die by suicide every single day and one every 11 minutes. For every death by suicide, there are over 10 people affected.
Our organization offers the following services for our communities: Counseling/talk therapy, grief support, support groups, suicide awareness programs, some funeral expenses, and other needs as they occur. We, as an organization, believe that when we open the lines of communication about suicide and mental health, we can become a healthier community!
Newton’s Chapter of Team of Mercy is planning a 5K Color Run – Surviving the Color: Newton – on Saturday, September 13th at 7 am at the Effingham Trec Trail. You can visit the event page by searching Facebook for “Surviving the Color – Newton”. We would love to see as many participants as we can! Our Facebook page will be setup for participants to enter for the race closer to the date.
We have event sponsorship opportunities ranging from $250 to $600. And even a partner sponsorship for $1,500 if that is what you would like to do. Clay County Hospital and Clinics have taken one of the Partnership sponsor this year, but we would be more than happy to have more than one. We gladly welcome in-kind donations; however, in-kind donations may only represent 50% of the total sponsorship level. If you would like to set up a table at the Color Run to advertise your business/organization, please let me know! If you are a non-profit it would be free. If your business is not a non-profit there will be a small fee.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call 618-783-9284 and leave a message. Or you can email to: beverelydrake@gmail.com, to contact the President of Team of Mercy, Newton.
