Lonnie David “Dave” Drum, 85, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Family and friends are invited to graveside services at 11:00 am on Friday July 10, 2026, at the Greenup Cemetery. Immediately following, there will be a celebration of life at Chances R’ in Greenup. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.

Born on February 13, 1941, at his family home in rural Toledo, Illinois, Dave was the son of the late Arnold and Irene (Woodard) Drum.

Dave is survived by his beloved daughter, Sandy Drum of Greenup; his brother, Steve (Lou) Drum of Neoga; his longtime companion, Bobbie Philippi of Greenup; and Kenny (Leila) Warfield of Waco, Texas, and Beth (Taylor) Sowers of Toledo, the children of his previous marriage, who held a special place in his heart and remained a cherished part of his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Randy Drum, who passed away in 1987.

Dave proudly served six years in the Illinois National Guard. Throughout his life, Dave was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He farmed for several years before establishing his own trucking company. He later founded Drum Manufacturing, Inc., which he owned and operated for 35 years. One of his greatest joys was working alongside his daughter, Sandy, for 21 of those years. Their daily lunches together became a cherished tradition and reflected the close bond they shared. Outside of work, Dave’s greatest passion was boating. Over the years, he owned several boats and even built one himself, proudly naming it the Moon Gem. He spent many wonderful years keeping a boat in Golconda on the Ohio River before later moving to Lake Barkley, where he continued to enjoy life on the water. The docks became a gathering place where he formed lasting friendships, sharing stories, laughter, and countless happy memories with friends. Those times meant the world to him. He especially treasured having Bobbie by his side on those boating adventures, creating many special memories together. Dave was a kindhearted, generous man who loved his family and friends dearly. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known for his compassion, kindness, and genuine care for others. His quiet strength, warm heart, and unwavering generosity touched many lives. Dave will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
