Effingham High School breezed past South Central by a 10-0 score in five innings of high school baseball action Thursday.
The Hearts got on board in the bottom of the first after Carter Braddy doubled, scoring a run, Jude Traub doubled, scoring a run and James Wendt tripled, scoring two runs.
The Hearts added to their early lead in the bottom of the second when an error scored two runs and Traub picked up his second double, scoring a run.
EHS continued on, scoring two more in the third to lead 9-0 after Andrew Wagoner hit a sacrifice fly.
Westin Hayes earned the pitching victory. He went five innings, allowing two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out eight.
Traub finished with two doubles and two RBI while Wendt had a single, triple and two RBI and Braddy a double and an RBI. Wyatt Hayes finished and Keegan Koester added two singles each. Wagoner had a single and an RBI.
South Central had two hits led by Luke Shumate and Evan Hoover with a single each.
Effingham will be back in action Monday traveling to Neoga.

At Teutopolis
Mount Zion zipped out to a 3-1 lead on Teutopolis but the Wooden Shoes weren’t having any of that.
T-town came back to move ahead 6-3 in the second then had four-run innings in the fourth and fifth to end this game by a 14-4 tally in five innings Thursday.
Jason Kreke led the hitting attack with two home runs and five RBI. Austin Borries finished with two doubles and four RBI while Aidan Niemerg added a single, double and two RBI. Teagan Pals finished with a single and double, Nolan Schumacher a single and an RBI and Caleb Deters an RBI.
Hayden Tebbe started for the Shoes on the mound. He went three innings, giving up four runs on five hits, three walks and striking out four. Schumacher came on to finish the final two innings, giving up two walks and striking out four.
T-town is now 15-4 on the season and will play host to Freeburg and Gibault Catholic, weather permitting, Saturday. Mount Zion dropped to 11-6.

Dieterich ran out to a 9-0 lead and went on for a 17-2 victory over Ramsey Thursday.
The Movin’ Maroons banged out 14 hits in the contest and that included four doubles. Mason Lidy had a single, double and four RBI, Dominic Ashley a double and two RBI, Bryce Bohnhoff and Colin Nicholas had a double and an RBI each. Andrew Hall had two singles and two RBI, Cooper Stortzum and Logan Gipson a single and two RBI each.
There were four pitchers for the Maroons. Andrew Hall started the game and went two innings to earn the win. He gave up one hit, walked two and struck out three.
At Dieterich

Newton trailed Paris 3-0 after two innings but started a comeback with two runs in the third then moved ahead 6-3 in the fourth.
The Eagles went on for an 11-4 victory. Drake Wolf went five innings for the mound. He gave up three runs on six hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
Quincy Fulton had a single, home run and two RBI while Gavin Meinhart had a home run and two RBI. David Ferguson added two singles and three RBI while Jackson James had a double. David Baltzell added a single and two RBI and D. Wolf had a single and an RBI.

OPS pulled within 4-2 in the fifth but BSE went on two for runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Jayce Gillespie led the winners with a single, double and four RBI. Logan Lach had a double and an RBI. Keelan Speagle and Bentley Sanders had a single and an RBI eah.
OPS finished with eight hits but also had eight errors.
Brownstown/St. Elmo improved to 6-7 on the season and will be back in action Monday aganist Flroa.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but that didn’t last long as Altamont came back with five runs in the third and went on for an 11-1 victory Thursday.
Altamont finished with seven hits and was aided by four CHBC errors. Kade Milleville had a two doubles and two RBI while Brayden Elam a single double and an RBI. Carson Milleville had a single and an RBI.
Kaiden Wolff tossed a two-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts.
The Bobcats were led by Clive Schlanser with a double and Isaac Miller with an RBI.
