The North Clay school board took action on several personnel matters this week, including a number of coaching posts.
The Board had accepted Josh Zink’s resignation as boys varsity basketball coach. At this week’s meeting, Zink was named girls varsity basketball coach. The Board also accepted Haley Gregg’s resignation as girls varsity coach. Also, Lorissa Wolf was named high school head cheer coach, and Malorie Craig was named high school head volleyball coach.
Other hirings…creation of a part-time field maintenance position; resignation of Erika Yates as 7th grade volleyball coach and her hiring as JV volleyball coach; Allie Krutsinger was hired as girls basketball assistant coach; Allison Czyzewski was hired as girls basketball assistant coach; Kim Adair was approved as a girls basketball volunteer coach; Barry Adair was approved as junior high girls basketball volunteer assistant coach; and Brian Swope was approved as junior high track volunteer assistant coach.
Also…the Board accepted the resignation of Tonni Micklautz as high school Pep Club sponsor; resignations were accepted from Bailey Burdine and Cameron Stone as permanent substitutes; Julie Barbee was approved as a community volunteer at the elementary and junior high school; recommended non-certified staff members for the coming school year; and posted for the summer school teaching staff.
In other business, the North Clay board expelled a student for the remainder of this school year and all of the 26-27 school year. However, the expulsion will be held in abeyance if the student successfully completes a probation.
Jon Carroll with Poettker Construction presented bid results for upcoming summer projects. The Board awarded the base bids that include a redesigned and expanded Pre-K playground, and an abatement of asbestos tile from high school classrooms, new floor tile for high school classrooms, patching and recoating the outside of the high school efis, and abatement, flooring and toilet partitions for the staff bathroom at the north end of the high school.
The Board approved a bus bid from Central States, but did not accept a fuel bid, however authorized Superintendent Keith Price to lock in a price in the future.
Registration for the coming school year will take place online from July 19-26, with in-person registration day on Wednesday, July 22. The Board set the fee schedule, set rates for officials pay for the coming school year, renewed membership in the IESA for the coming school year, and renewed the cooperative agreement with Clay City for junior high softball for the coming two school years.
