Effingham High School blasted Vandalia by a 17-0 count in four innings of softball action Tuesday and with that victory, Jerry Trigg earned his 500th career coaching win.
The Hearts made short work of Vandalia, moving into a 3-0 opening inning lead then scoring nine in the second and five in the third.
EHS finished with nine hits led by Keagyn Koenig with a triple and two RBI. Layla McBride finished with two singles and three RBI while Natalie Armstrong had two singles and an RBI.
Molly Maxedon added a single and two RBI while Maci Hayes and Ryley Engel contributed a single and an RBI each. Gieah Schlanser, Sydney Cunningham and Cora Hartmann added an RBI each.
Armstrong went the four innings, giving up three hits, walking two and striking out six for the win on the mound.
At Effingham

At Dieterich
Dieterich put together two five-run innings in downing Neoga by a 12-4 tally in Tuesday action.
The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning. Dieterich moved ahead 2-1 in the second. Neoga came back to take a 4-2 lead in the fourth. But the Maroons caught fire, scoring five runs in the fifth and five in the sixth for the win.
Dieterich pounded out 15 hits. Allison Boerngen finished with three hits that included two singles a double and three RBI while Lydia Wohltman also had three hits, two singles, a double and an RBI.
Aliza Garner tallied a single, double and an RBI while Claire Faller had two hits and an RBI and Kinley Will two singles. Kensi Stortzum had a single and three RBI and Callie Faller and Lexie Funneman a single and an RBI each.
Boerngen went four innings for the mound victory, giving up four runs on five hits, three walks and striking out three.
Neoga was led by Josallyn Brandenburg with a single, double and an RBI. Reyna Coy added a double and two RBI while Lillian Denson had a double. Keeli McKay added an RBI.

Altamont played host to North Clay/Clay City and sent the visitors home with an 11-0 loss in five innings Tuesday.
The Indians had three three-run innings in the second, third and fifth around two runs in the fourth.
Sophia Long went the distance on the mound. She gave up three hits, five walks and struck out six.
Kennedi Schultz hit a home run and finished with three RBI for the winners. Becca Swank added a double and an RBI while Avery Fleeharty had two singles and an RBI. Sophia Long and Haley Arend added a single and an RBI each. Laila Hankins and Adilyn Schnarre finished with an RBI each.
North Clay had three hits led by Faith Jones with two singles and Addyson Sullens with a single.

Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Olney and fell to Richland County by a 6-3 count Tuesday.
The Bulldogs moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead but Richland County came right back in the second to knot the score then moved into a 3-1 lead in the third.
St. Anthony pulled within 3-2 in the fourth and tied the score in the top of the sixth. But the Tigers went on a run, scoring three in the bottom of the sixth then held St. Anthony scoreless in the seventh for the win.
The Bulldogs outhit Richland County by a 7-6 count. Julia Schultz banged out two solo home runs. Mallory Litz hit a double while Nancy Ruholl had a single and an RBI.
At Olney

Casey-Westfield came to town and went home with an 11-7 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.
The Warriors banged out 16 hits in the contest led by Gyllyane Gilbert had a single, double, triple and five RBI while Anna Karras added two singles, a double and an RBI and Ava Goble a single, triple and an RBI.
Windsor/Stew-Stras finished with 10 hits. Mya Friese had a single and double for the Hatchets while Clarissa Johnson added three singles, Cameron Carey two singles, Claire Holland a single and an RBI and Arora Rincker an RBI.
Goble tossed a 10-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts for the win.

Newton played host to Mattoon and the Green Wave took home an 8-6 victory Tuesday.
Mattoon moved into a 1-0 lead in the second then led 4-2 in the fourth. Both teams scored four runs in the sixth.
The Eagles outhit Mattoon by an 11-9 count. Audrie Reich led the way with a single, double and an RBI while Jorjia Reich added a triple. Allie Hermann and Lexie Ghast added two singles each. Emma Brooks had a single and two RBI while Paige Wagner and Claire Probst finished with a single and an RBI each.

Charleston scored a 17-13 victory over Cumberland Tuesday.
Cumberland had 18 hits in the contest. Jade Carr had three hits and three RBI while Kada Miles also had three hits and finished with one RBI. Jude Miller had three hits and an RBI as did Shelby Kingery. Mia Holsapple had two hits and two RBI and Ashton Tolen two hits and an RBI.
Kada Miles pitched four innings, giving up nine runs, walked four and struck out three in the loss.
Tolen finished with three stolen bases.
The Pirates drop to 3-2 and are back in action today hosting Richland County, Olney.
At Pana
Pana moved into a 5-2 opening inning lead then tallied five more in the second, three in the third and ended the game in the fourth with seven runs for a 20-5 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday. The Panthers finished with 17 hits.
Allison Shields had two hits and scored a run for the Bobcats. Brylie Prater had a hit and an RBI and Natalie Tucker and Madison Dover a hit each.
CHBC finished with eight errors.
