While the day-to-day activity continues at Neoga schools, the rebuilding in the aftermath of last year’s tornado also goes on.
Superintendent Kevin Haarmann said the forecast is for the elementary school to be ready for August 2026, with the junior-senior high school building to be ready for August 2027.
Haarmann said the south gym is hopefully going to be ready this fall. Neoga has been using space at Emerald Acres for practices, and varsity boys and girls basketball games have been played at Lake Land College.
Structurally, the junior-senior building has seen its interior being gutted.
Haarmann said the district should be more able to handle spring sports since those facilities were not as severely affected by the storm and were able to be utilized last year.
Meanwhile at this month’s meeting, the Neoga board approved the senior class trip to St. Louis; accepted Athletic Director Mike Taylor’s retirement at the end of the 2030 school year; and hired Jared McClellan as a high school Science teacher.
