Altamont school board members Monday heard from Superintendent Casey Adam on behalf of the district curriculum committee that met last week.

Adam said Phonics, high school Earth Science, and Weight Training materials are finalized and that they’re waiting on just a few final pieces to have Biology settled. All final recommendations to the Board will be reported at Work Weekend and ready for a vote in March.

Adam also discussed the food service report, an upcoming national conference, the Illinois Association of School Boards regional meeting, the fire marshal and health/life safety report, and the status of bond sales to finance upcoming construction.

The Altamont board approved Corey Pals as a volunteer for softball, accepted the resignation of Beth Lawler as Music teacher at the grade school effective at the end of the school year, and approved the regional Safe School program and the Regional Office of Education intergovernmental agreements for the coming school year.

Board members approved the high school graduation date as May 16 at 5pm, approved the annual auditor contract, authorized Adam to go out for bid for a LED sign, approved renewed cooperative IESA agreements with Altamont Lutheran Interparish School for softball, girls basketball and track, discussed a proposed calendar for the coming school year.

The Altamont Board will hold its annual strategic planning retreat on February 21.
