ST. ELMO — Brownstown/St. Elmo played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the Bobcats home with a 65-36 loss in girls high school basketball Monday evening.
BSE, ranked No. 4 in the Class 1A State basketball poll, didn’t mess around, ripping out to a 21-1 opening quarter lead. Danika Ramsey connected on two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight in the quarter while Madi Miller finished with six.
CHBC’s lone point was a free throw by Harper Lilly.
The lead went to 48-7 at halftime as Dayana Haslett took over the scoring duties with two three-pointers, four regular baskets and a free throw for 15 points.
Macy Claycomb was the leader in the third quarter with all nine of her points as the lead went to 62-23.
CHBC’s Ryleigh Sarver hit two three-pointers in that quarter.
Haslett finished with 17 points on seven field goals, two of those three-pointers, and one of one at the line. Also in double figures were Miller with 11 and Ramsey with 10.
CHBC was led by Sarver with five field goals, four of those three-pointers, for 14 points.

At Mattoon
Neoga played host to Altamont at Lake Land College Monday evening and picked up a 43-32 victory.
Altamont edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter lead but Neoga came back with a 15-7 second period run to lead 23-17 at halftime. Neoga then had a 20-15 second half.
Madi Frankie connected on four field goals and four of five at the line for the winners for 12 points while Natalie Ballinger hit five field goals and was two of two at the line, also for 12 points.
Neoga improved to 10-15 on the season and is back in action Thursday at Dieterich.
Altamont was led by Sophia Long with nine points on four field goals and a free throw and Avery Aldrich with eight. The Indians drop to 10-12 on the season and return to play Thursday against Teutopolis.
Altamont edged Neoga 30-28 in the junior varsity contest.

At Toledo
Cumberland played host to South Central and was a 58-30 winner in Monday evening action.
The two teams played to a 12-12 opening quarter tie. Jude Miller hit three baskets and was two of two at the line for eight points for the Pirates.
Baylee Brown connected on two three-pointers for six for South Central.
Cumberland then took off with a 19-5 second quarter run to lead 31-17 at halftime. Alysa Dittamore hit four baskets for eight while Miller continued on with a regular basket, a three-pointer and three of four at the line for eight. Raegan Jones connected on a three-pointer.
Cumberland had a 14-6 third period run as Jones hit two more three-pointers. The Pirates finished out strong with a 13-7 final period.
Miller hit nine field goals, one a three-pointer, and was five of eight at the line for 24 points to lead the Pirates. Also in double figures were Dittamore with 14 and Jones with 11.
South Central was led by Brown with 10 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers.

This one ended as a barn-burner when Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Ramsey, 32-31.
The Hatchets moved into a 6-4 opening quarter lead as Claire Holland hit two baskets.
Windsor/Stew-Stras then had a 13-4 second period to move ahead 16-8 at halftime. Kendra Hayes scored five points and Holland added three more.
Ramsey came back with a 13-7 third period to move within 23-21.
Then in the final quarter Ramsey continued on with a 10-9 run only to fall a point short.
The Hatchets were led by Hayes with 16 points on five field goals, two from beyond the arc, and four of six at the line. Holland added nine.

Teutopolis edged ahead 6-5 in the opening quarter and went on for a 42-37 victory over Breese Mater Dei Monday evening.
Sophia Martin connected on a three-pointer in the opening quarter for the Shoes. Kelsey Niemerg then went to work in the second period, scoring three baskets and a free throw for seven as the Shoes led by a slight 15-13 halftime lead.
The Shoes then had a 19-11 third period run. Allie Ruholl put in six points while Martin hit another three-pointer and Malea Helmink put in five points.
The Shoes finished out with a 14-13 final quarter. Anna Probst hit a regular basket, a three-pointer and was three of four at the line scoring eight of her total nine points in the fourth quarter.
Leading the Shoes were Niemerg with six field goals and one free throw for 13 and Martin with 11. Helmink finished with 11 rebounds. Anna Probst had two steals.

Three players finished in double figures as Newton tallied a 61-37 victory over Pana in Monday evening action.
The Eagles led 19-11 after the opening quarter and 38-20 at halftime.
Maddie Brummer led the way for the Eagles with 16 points on seven field goals and two of two at the line. Allie Hermann tallied 14 while Grace Schumacher chipped in with 11.
Brummer and Izzy Meinhart led the team in rebounds with six each. G. Schumacher led in assists with six. Alani Bergbower finished with five steals. Brummer had three blocked shots.
Newton improved to 16-9 on the season and is back in action at Casey-Westfield Thursday in Little Illini Conference play.
Pana was a 35-27 winner in the junior varsity game. Newton was led in scoring by Brooke Gentry with eight. The Eagles JV is now 6-8.

Robinson moved into a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led 32-16 at halftime.
Dieterich had one player in double figures. Addison Miller led with 18 points on six field goals, two of those from three-point range and four of four at the line.
Miller also led in rebounds with nine while Lena Goebel pulled down seven. Miller led in steals with four.
